Antigone

So the play is over and what an adventure it was! It was the first "real" production that I'd ever been in. Going through auditions I thought I was going to be sick, I was so nervous! I was so happy that I got a part and even the part that I wanted! I played Ismene, Antigone's sister. If you'd like to read a short synopsis of this classic Greek tragedy written by Sophocles click here. It was an amazing experience to be with the cast, tech crew, director, and see the costumes, masks, and set being created.

I also want to thank my sweet hubby for allowing me the time away from family and cares to devote to this experience. One night he even got to step into a role himself! He played the guard that takes me away with Antigone to be tied up. He was supposed to give me a shove as we go out -he really got into the part! He not only shoved me, but stepped on my train and slapped away the hands of my sorrowing attendants. Yeesh! I'm glad he only was a guard for the one night! The director was teasing him at the end, reminding him, "SHE'S PREGNANT! You don't have to make it THAT realistic!"
