Christian Homeschooling

Crisis averted! I feel much better after our "homeshooling co-op" meeting tonight. Phew! A statement of faith had been introduced a while back and as an LDS (Mormon) woman, some of my views differ from mainstream Christian beliefs. I know and love the ladies that introduced the statement of faith, and in my heart I knew that all would work out. When I first heard of the statement of faith I knew I would be the one most likely to approach the other ladies with our differences (I'm not the only LDS member in the co-op). I struggled with this dilemma and how to approach it. I am so thankful that I prayed for guidance from Heavenly Father and that I followed that guidance.

The differences in our beliefs were discussed and I felt it was important for us to concentrate on our similarities, not on our differences. I also think they needed to be reassured that we would not be teaching anything that would be contrary to their beliefs and that we should know that there may be things that would be contrary to what we would normally teach our children. In the end, we have wonderful, strong, believing women working together to instill a love of God and God's creations in our children. As I said before, crisis averted!

Bravo! I have encountered these Statements of Faith and have not really known what to do. In fact, I have heard of several instances where the LDS member was asked to leave over a Statement of Faith. How sad.
