Parental Rights Amendment

Taken for the parentalrights.org website

Wow, I just made my very first phone calls to my senators...I had no idea that you actually talk to REAL people. I figured it would just be a machine. I've sent emails before, signed petitions, but this is the first time that I have actually lended my voice to a cause. I'm pretty emotional right now. I guess I feel it's a very literal way of standing up for my children, my family, and my right to parent my children, as I believe to be right.

Other parents may disagree with me and think that how I parent is wrong, too religious, narrow minded, whatever. However, I believe that they have the fundamental right to teach their own children what they believe is right. Even if our beliefs differ greatly, we should both have the right to parent as we see fit, barring issues of abuse, of course.

ParentalRights.org is asking that those of us that are concerned about the Convention on the Rights of a Child, call our senators to ask them to co-sponsor a resolution to stop this treaty from being adopted. I have blogged about the CRC a few times, as well as mentioned the Parental Rights Amendment - which is the only permanent solution to stopping the threat from the CRC.
If you are not familiar with the CRC, here is a link to learn 20 things that it contains (the bottom 10 bullet points are the most disturbing). After reading it, you cannot deny that this treaty is an attack upon the family, and undermines the rights of parents.

This is a link to find out if your senators are a co-sponsor (they are highlighted) and if they are not, the phone numbers are listed so that you may contact them if you wish.

Interesting that 90% of those cosponsering are men.
