We got Annie!

Click here if you want to find out if Annie is coming near you! (A note about the videos - the Annie we saw had a different girl than is in the videos.)

Kent came home a few weeks ago and said he'd found something that he thought I might be interested in. The Broadway production of Annie was coming to Great Falls for one night only! He said he wanted his girls to go for our Valentine's Day gift.

The girls and I were so excited to go! They asked if we could stay over for the night, but Kent had to work so we had to come back that same night. I hadn't paid a lot of attention to the weather, but the night before the performance we had freezing rain and on top of that several inches of snow had fallen that morning! Not a good day to travel. Our plans quickly changed to the whole family going and staying the night. The roads turned out to be much better than we anticipated (thank heavens). The boys stayed behind at the hotel and swam in the pool while the girls went to the play.

I'd have to say Mimi's favorite part was "Easy Street". She was sitting on my lap and she just couldn't stop herself from moving to the music. She was getting tired by intermission and kept asking to go back to the hotel. I held her off and as soon as the curtain was up, she was entranced again. She was not too fond of Annie, herself, until she got "spiffed up" at the end and put on the curly wig and red dress she is known for. It was only then that Mimi finally thought she looked just right.

I haven't had the chance to ask Abby her favorite part, but we both enjoyed telling Kent about the play and laughing together about the funny parts. Abby did have one complaint. Although the girl that played Annie had a fantastic voice, she left something to be desired in the acting department. During the song "I don't need anything but you" (she is going to be adopted by Warbucks) she wasn't even smiling! I kept waiting for some semblance of excitement and not a smile grazed her lips.

Everything else was fantastic though, a live orchestra, great supporting actors and actresses and lots of laughing. I liked the director's humorous interpretation of different things.

All in all a fun mini-vacation for the whole fam!

That sounds like so much fun! My older girls loved the movie Annie when they were younger. Glad the roads were safe for you!

What a fantastic Valentine's Day gift!!! That sounds like so much fun! I'm glad everyone loved it (even tired Mimi!). I can't wait until Georgia is old enough to appreciate Annie! I already sing her songs from Annie, Singin' in the Rain and the Wizard of Oz to get her prepped and ready for Mommy's favorites!
